Starbucks- Setting an Example for All

Having a look and reading through a few different articles it’s evident to me that Starbucks has taken the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously. As a company they look at several different ways to decrease any negative impact their company may have on the environment whether it be through proper recycling, stressing the use of ‘Tumbler’ cups to promote the use of reusable cups, investing in renewable energy or implementing various water-saving technology within their stores. Starbucks is continuing to set an example for not only other companies in their industry as well as others in different fields but their customers as well.

Just to shed light on how seriously they take having a positive impact on the environment, Starbucks implemented a program in 1995 called “Grounds for Your Garden” that allowed customers to receive complimentary five pound bags of used coffee grounds to enrich their soil. I don’t know about you but that seems like a better alternative than allowing the used coffee grounds fill up our landfills even more!

If you’re interested, I urge you to browse through their site and have a look at what else they’re doing to help out the environment and the communities they operate in, I’m sure it’ll be worth your time!
